Overhyped? The Rooney goal - 10% Villa

No overhype for me, given the occassion, circumstance and timing of the goal, it was simply a stunning strike

Let me remind you of similar circumstances Us v Blose...Gary Cahill. wonderful piece of skill and agility...however his name is not Rooney and he played for us.

It was a great goal but I feel that other goals are better as they include more skill. The Giggs goal is a perfect example of this.

I prefer another one of Ronney's goals; a chipped goal against Pompey a few seasons ago, a sublime piece of skill.

The goal against City was really Rooney chancing his luck. It came off, it could just of easily have ended up amongst Croydon's finest in row Z.

To be fair, it was a great goal. Compounded with the fact that both are in the title race and it was a tasty derby, Man Utd best team in the world etc. etc. Bah! Cahill's overhead kick against Small Heath was a million times better.

They only showed it about 15 times on MOTD2 last night so you can hardly accuse them of overhyping it.....

And it was nice of Rooney to dedicate the goal to the Man United fans, so soon after screwing an extra couple of million a year from them.

A shame because it was a great goal but I'm already sick of it

Good goal, but overhyped. Even Rooney, himself, said 9 out of 10 don't hit the net. Which suggests skill with a huge slice of luck.

It was one of those goals though I knew was going in as soon as the cross was put in. Somtimes, you just feel the vibe.

It's a reminder of the skill Rooney has. His club rarely sees it and in his recent performances for England it appears even less.

Pity he doesn't put as much concentration into his football as he does shagging hookers...

It was a fantastic goal but it really got on my tit ends that they didn't include Gary Cahill's piece of genius against the noses in last night's MOTD roundup.  Not much to choose between that one and Rooney's in my view. Perhaps with the difference that ours is clearly the more important and more meaningful derby

It's not over-hyped, it's a fantastic goal.
If there are better goals out there (and there are of course) then they are under-hyped and should be shown more often.

Football is all about moments like that one.

Bound to be over-hyped, not sure one can complain too much. Twas ever thus...

Still doesn't beat Van Persie's goal away at Charlton for me - full length of the pitch move capped off with a marvellous volley. It combined a wonderful team move with a stunning finish

It was a fabulous goal, of course it was, but i still don't think it would have been shown 15 times on MOTD had Bent scored it.

Could have been worse, could have been Wilshire i suppose.
