Gary McAllister hoping Ashley Young stays

From sportinglife.com
Aston Villa assistant manager Gary McAllister is hoping the club's recent arrivals will persuade Ashley Young to stay at Villa Park.
Young's future at Villa has been the subject of speculation for some time with the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Tottenham all credited with an interest in his services.
The England international has 18 months to run on his current contract and he has put off talks over a new deal until the end of the season.
Villa managed to keep hold of Young during the January transfer window and McAllister hopes the club's show of ambition in breaking their transfer record to sign Darren Bent and also the arrival of Jean Makoun will persuade Young.
"It's a triumph if we keep Ashley for next season and it's a show of intent by everyone here that we want to keep our best players," McAllister told the Daily Star.
"If we keep him, it will mean Ash thinks he can win things with Villa. Hopefully, by the signings we have made we can convince our top players to want to be here."

They may as well asked any Villa fan, who would have said the same thing.
Just a none story really.

Villa coach in "We would like to keep our best players" shocker!
No evidence whatsoever that AY is actually GOING to sign a new contract, just some member of the coaching staff hypothesising on what Ash would be inclined to think should he actually do so. "It would mean he thinks he can win things at Villa". Really, so the fact that he hasn't signed one says what? Oh well, it's not like the Daily Star to have a proper story now is it. Nonsense.

He'd have signed by now if he had any intentions of staying

Don't care. Would rather have N'Zogbia. He beats players and scores goals.

The frustration is we all know that Ash can do that. You dont suddenly forget how to do it. Im just at a loss that he cant turn out those performances he did 18months ago. I hope its not his head turned by tapping up, or promises. I think he thrives on adoration, and he will only truly get that at VP. Ask Barry and Milner.

I like the way they make out that we managed to keep him in the January window while Houllier said that there had been no offers for him.

Will he have the team built around him at Spurs or Chelsea or Arsenal or wherever? I doubt it. Will he get to play in the role he favours where he is not at his best? Not in a million years.
He might not have it as good as he has it here. As long as we can get sack fulls of money for him I don't really care. We already have Albrighton, Downing and Bannan if we get one player in he will be more than replaced. Not 100% on Insomnia I would prefer a creative striker type player myself who can play that second striker role to a t.

Get him back on the wing and he'll be well worth 80k a week

I'd sell Ash for £15 mill and pay £10 mill for N'Zogbia who would cost c. £50k a week and freshen the team up.
I think he'd be great up front with Bent or Gabby.

I would never sell the Ash of two years ago.
The Ash we have seen this season I would certainly sell. His final ball has gone missing he has little end product. It doesnt help that he is clearly not suited to the hole.
