Damon I remember that Francis hat trick for qpr but I don't think we were 2-0 at the time ? It was 1989 and if I remember rightly we lost 1-3.

That was what I was thinking as well....really don't think we were 2-0 up. He was good that day, you simply had to admit it.

Definitely 1-0 up I think Platt had scored for us and we thought it was all over but then beelzebub showed up.

Staying with 1989-90 - David Platt's missed penalty at home to Wimbledon at 0-0 and Villa going on to lose 0-3. Probably the beginning of the end of the title challenge.

I was just going to post that. We would have gone five points clear if we'd won that, and had a Cup quarter-final to look forward to. We fell apart after that missed penalty in the league and it wasn't long before cheating plastic pitch bastards Oldham knocked us out the Cup too.

Perhaps if you're looking for massive moments in Villa's history you could include Stuart Gray's late equaliser against Middlesbrough in 1989 that provided us with the point that eventually prevented us from making an immediate return to Division Two.

Shaun Teale's spectacular og against Forest under BFR. We suddenly decided to start playing, and ripped them to bits. I think it ended up 3-1. Some of the best attacking football I've ever seen.

I scored a very similar goal to that in FIFA11 tonight.

Nigel Spink's last minute punt upfield (at home to Crystal Palace 1989-90), resulting in a Platty special and a 2-1 victory, kick starting a season that was so so special.

How about Marcus Allbacks goal that kept us up a few years ago

His goals kept us up that season, the one you're talking about was against Sunderland.

Correct, 2-1 win and a goal at The Holte wasn't it ?
