What was it like to score your first goal at Villa Park?

It was brilliant. Always nice to score on your debut. I was over the moon. Hopefully there will be more for me!

How do you find the Villa Park ? Great pitch, isn't? Keep up the good work, Darren!

Darren Bent:
It is a brilliant stadium. It is one I've always enjoyed playing at as any away player. To call it your home is even better. The crowd always play a part and make it brilliant.

What's with the number 39 shirt?

Darren Bent:
I was looking at numbers to wear and most of them were gone. I looked at 37 but the manager wanted me to have 39 because it has the number 9 - a proper striker's number - in it!

No! They've all been really good to be fair! I expected one or two like somebody stealing my clothes, maybe! But they have all been really good.

Darren Bent:
Birmingham is a nice city. I didn't know too much about it when I came here - it is bigger than I thought. The location is really ideal because it is in the centre. It is easy for me to go and visit my family.

Hi Darren, really great to see you playing for Villa. Did you have any very good friends in the Villa squad before moving to Villa? You seem to get on great with everyone and fit into the team so well
Wednesday February 2, 2011 10:33 Gareth
10:35

Darren Bent:
I am from the same area as Nigel Reo-Coker so I have known him for years. Obviously I know all the England boys and I know Andy Marshall from Ipswich. I know how nervous it can be settling in but it has really helped knowing lots of people here already. I also knew Luke Young from Charlton.

What do you think of our away support?
Wednesday February 2, 2011 10:35 Jon Davies

Darren Bent:
I've only had two away games but both times the Villa fans have filled up their end. Even though we were getting beaten by Man Utd the supporters cheered until the end, stayed until the end and they were fantastic.

Yes very happy - which is why I made the move here. I see great potential in the team. I believe this team can go a long, long way and I just wanted to be part of that. Now I am here I am over the moon and I hope things continue to go well.

Darren Bent:
I really enjoyed it. It is always special to score any goal but to score on your debut for a new club after having such a hectic week was amazing. Man City are one of the best teams in the country so to score against them gave me extra satisfaction.

It has got to be at the Bernabeu or the Nou Camp. I watch quite a lot of Spanish football and they both look amazing stadiums.

Darren Bent:
He is a lot more technical, knows the game really, really well. I've been lucky to play under some great managers but to play for someone like Gerard Houllier with everything he has achieved in the game and become one of his players is incredible.

Thierry Henry. I was an Arsenal fan when I was younger and I was lucky enough to swap shirts with him when I played against him a few seasons ago. When you walk in to my house it is the first thing you see on the wall!

hey Darren, Im from Australia, massive Villa Fan!! just want to say i've wanted you at this club for a long time and you were what we've been missing in terms of a natural finisher. Do you think you can get the penalty kicks off of young?? ;) hehe

It doesn't look like I'll be getting them off him any time soon - especially if he keeps scoring them! But as long as the team is winning and we keep getting points then it doesn't matter who takes them.

Darren Bent:
The best player I've played with is probably Luka Modric - he is so skillful and you can never get the ball off him! The best I've played against? Cristiano Ronaldo - he tore us to shreads when he was at United and I was at Spurs.

Do you prefere to play up front on your own or with someone?
Wednesday February 2, 2011 10:52 benjy

Darren Bent:
I don't mind - if I have to play up on my own I am happy to do it. But I don't have a preference. Sometimes I understand you have to play up on your own against a team like Man United - but it doesn't faze me. We have great service all over the pitch whichever formation we play.

When I first walked in to the changing room and I met Pries I was a bit starstruck to be honest! He has been a top, top player for many years and to play with one of the Invincibles is fantastic.

Darren Bent:
There are none that I love to play against because the Premier League is a very top league but on the flip side Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are very, very hard to play against!

Darren Bent:
Man United played fantastic last night. Rooney was back to form - I think he has been playing well all season but he got his goalscoring form back last night and sometimes you have to hold your hands up and say they were a better team.

Gave the ''right answers'' to all the questions. Been media-trained quite well. I thought he came across a bit sheepish and nervous at his press conference - understandable given the circumstances of his departure from Sunderland.
Interesting to hear his views on GHou aswell.
