That Robert Earl hasn't really done much for them has he?
To be fair, at least he tried increasing revenues by selling match tickets to that beer company.....

“The demographics of Liverpool as a city are not hugely compelling. It is not a very wealthy city. Everton share the city with another club, which arguably has been in the vanguard for the last decade, and they both have a stadium to build. So the economics need a lot of looking at” - Keith Harris after he was appointed to sell the club.

The ground issue is enormous for them. They can't feasibly generate significant new revenue from redeveloping Goodison and the government rejected planning permission for Kirby.

Their existing business model makes losses every year and satisfies those losses through Player sales e.g. Rooney, Lescott, Rodwell??

Having said that, there is no way they are going into administration any time soon. The bulk of their debt is based on a 25 year loan at fixed interest rates. They'll only risk administration if they were relegated.

Apart from Aston Villa I would buy Everton and sort them out and be their Randy Lerner, if I am a multi billionaire.

But stadium redevelopment/new stadium make it untouchable for investors. As a new stadium could cost 150 millions pound. Let say buy Everton for 40 millions, plus 50 millions on players plus 150 millions on new stadium, it would be very hard to make a profit.

He said he wouldn't put any more money in until they move to a new stadium.

They've just got planning permission to improve ground conferencing facilities - I'm not sure they are looking to move anymore.

I'd say that's more of a stop-gap measure until they can sort something more permanent out.

I've never understood why Everton have never been a target for one of the many buyouts that have happened up and down the country.  I know the ground isn't great, but they've got a good potential support, and a decent manager and squad.  Why would you go for the likes of Blues or Blackburn over Everton?

I can only guess its a case of lots of intitial outlay and not much growth potential.

I'd say that's probably it Maz.

Everton are a big club -pre Shankly they were always the biggest club up there. But could they get any bigger?  Unlikely. And they don't have a huge out-of-town support.

Clubs like Blackburn or even B-lose might appeal to owners who see half empty grounds and believe they can stimulate some kind of recovery.  In the case of the B-lose owners: they'll soon learn. If they haven't already.

thats something i've never understood either,

if i was a billionare looking for a club to buy and invest a few quid in, i would have gone for Sheff Wednesday, pick it up for peanuts, pay of the debt,
your then left with a big club with good history and large fanbase, ground that may be a bit old, but would not look out of place in the top tier,
with a bit of investment and success could easily compete in the top half of the prem

whatanames bought it now, and i dont think he has the money to make much difference.

like you say there is a lot of clubs more favourable than Blues or blackburn

Mandaric bought Wednesday didn't he? He has a good track record of sorting a club financially and selling on at a decent profit John.

Everton - I really hope they are not in trouble. They are desperate for decent investment, and I would much prefer them to have cash than Liverpool or Man City.

Maybe Egg Fried Rice and his band did look at Everton but thei Everton board looked at the situation closely and realised what a shit deal the Chinese were offering.
