You've gotta be happy with the Villa's spending this january, today's crazy spending just shows what good deals we have done.

Getting it done early was the key.  If we'd left buying Bent to today I think Steve Bruce would have been looking for well over thirty million.  Fair play to the club and manager for the work they put into this window.  I'm really happy about the Bradley deal, too!

It does indeed make the Bent signing look a bargain.

O'Neill's journo mates will never see it that way.

Bent was a bargain anyway despite this supposed Carroll deal and despite what the media may think.

All I know is I'm glad we did our business early on. Had we left this deal to deadline day we'd have been paying £25 million minimum. I bet Sunderland are just choking on the fact they sold a proven player like Bent to us for £18 million when Carroll is about to go for twice that.

Bent scores goals and not a lot else,
Carrol is a better footballer and offers more to a team, this season he is outscoring Bent remember and is also a lot younger,

i dont think its as bad a deal for Liverpool that people think

Bent is a proven goalscorer at this level though. There have been plenty before Carroll that have scored goals and then failed to live up the hype. Bent is also a professional, where as Carroll is a nutcase and could well end up being the most expensive cell mate in history.

quite frankly, I want him scoring goals and not a lot else. we have 9 other outfield players to do the other stuff.

exactly what i want to see as well,
i'm not against the Bent transfer, just know that he has some limitations,

my pet dog had better ball controll, but as you say all he's got to do is score goals, which is fair enough
