Ash has scored the last 3 so leave him on the duty till he misses
Ashley can keep taking them until he misses then DB can take them until he misses and then they rotate like that, job done!

That may add extra pressure on the taker though, knowing he'll be taken off penalty duty if he misses.

I'd have more confidence in bent as ash can be very hit and miss .

The way Ash does his run up for a penalty gives me no confidence at all that he knows what he is doing.  Perhaps it also gives the keeper no confidence as well, so it maybe be a blessing.

Ashley Young thinks every game is his party so he has to take all the free-kicks, penalties and not always pass the ball (especially to Albrighton - it's amazing how he'll try his hardest to not pas to him) even when it's the best thing to do.

Still, he's our best player...carry on as you were Ashley!

I would prefer Bent but Ashley is the captain.

pointless thread. A good pen is one that goes in, it's that simple.

I know Ash has missed a few but he's been money lately and really has his technique down. Bent's a great option to have if Ash gets the wobbles, but he looks very confident right now. Stay with the hot hand (or..er...foot) is what I say.

It was a decent penalty in fairness, but I'm sure I read last week that Bent was the designated penalty taker.

It was because he scored but the problem is Young's pens are now telegraphed. He has his arcked (arched? arcced?)run and then thumops it to the keepers right. The problem is that it is obvious what he will do. If he is slightly off form, or if the keeper doesn't go to the left then he'll give the keeper a great chance of saving it. Of his last 3 pens maybe only the Chelsea one would have still go in had the keeper not dived to the left.

I hadn't seen the pen until I watched it on Sky last night and was really hoping it was a placed pen rather than one being belted. Simply because he is going to put pressure on himself because he will have to place one in either his next pen, or the one after that at the very latest.

As for taking the pen he was absolutely right to. Until he misses again it won't be taken from him.

Yeah, Ash's silly run and sweeping shot which usually go left of centre will be caught out soon. I'd rather someone better at placing them as Bent is supposed to be.

Young shits me up when he approaches that ball at that weird angle and then tries to stroke it, he missed a few using that technique, to be fair he's just wacked his last 3 and has scored them all so until he misses he should continue

And what about his approach when taking a penalty?

The pens are his to lose so I hope Bent doesn't get one as it will mean Ash is still sticking them in the back of the net.

The problem is we all know Ashley will miss one soon.

Bent for me, but only because I want him to score as many as possible as I've never seen a 20-goal-a-season striker down the Villa.
