Restricted Car Parking on Match days
« on: January 17, 2011, 05:42:24 PM »
On the OS- new parking restrictions for match days all around Villa Park- sorry do not know when they come into force but £60 fines are mentioned for illegal parking. Looks as though I will have shell out a £5 for the privilage of parking in an 'recommended' match day parking facility.

My Left Foot, these have been out for years now shortly after kick off van loads of council wardens arrive and blitz the cars parked illegally but they only do it every so often. Possibly to woo people into a false sence of security. (cynical old me) I often feel sorry for the fans whose cars have the dreaded yellow bags attached to the screens, it makes it a dearer day out and just what you want after watching a poor match. Its because the locals complained about not being able to park, but then we see lots offerring to park 4 cars on their drives for £5 each.

£5 a go and all money goes to the school PA......(which I'm on!!). Seasonal Permits also available where all home Cup games are included for free.

Yeah I always park at King Edwards.  Can take over half an hour to get back to the expressway though (maybe police blocking roads for away coaches?) but at least the money goes to a good cause. Ruskin Hall may get away quicker - can't confirm that as never parked there, but always looks practically empty by the time I go past.

Park on the Trinity Road right outside the ground. It'll take you ages to get away after the match but you're guaranteed not to get a ticket. They even put those nice yellow cones out to help you parallel park.

Believe it or not, I'm being serious. In all the years I've sold the fanzine there I have never, ever seen a car get so much as a ticket.

Maybe we can start a new trend. Pay 30 odd quid for a match ticket, or spend £400/500 on a season ticket, and then leave 15 minutes before the end to make sure we can get home 15 minutes earlier than we would do if we stayed until the end. Any takers?

I just park at star city, its free, bit of a walk but alot easier to get home, quicker than sitting in your car in traffic

Be warned about parking on the Holford Estate (off Brookvale Road). I got a ticket after the Arsenal game (£60 or £40 if paid witihin 7 days) for parking on double yellows. I and many others have been doing this for some time as it's a private road, but they sent a private firm out to issue the tickets. They were also out Boxing Night!! after the Spuds game and again after the Sunderalnd game as I saw a few cars with tickets on.

Has anyone contested these tickets? Got one today on the Holford estate, but wasn't on a double yellow. Dont know whether to pay the £60 ,or contest it-goes up to £85 if not paid within 14 days

for those who got tickets on Holford Estates, give us a clue on location round the estate. Just to see which area have clamp downs. I park there and no problem.

If its a private road, why do you expect to park there for free ?
