Hate to say it, but he was actually a useful footballer, and I'd have had him in the team ahead of Gavin McCann anyway.

No he wasn't. His game was based on winding the opposition up.  If he got booked early he was anonymous.

I was a regular back in the late 70s & early 80s and when they played at the old Empire Stadium . Av home crowd of nearly 30.000  ! , tail-gate parties pre game ( & post game ! ) , fantastic atmosphere , very Family oriented .
