if we have Gardener and Bannan coming through why do we still seem to be obsessed with buying midfield players?

Gardner will need to some time to learn his trade in the top flight. As Delph and Bannan will who could also form a formidable young midfield with him at some point. Maybe Hogg too.
In the meantime we could do with a couple of bodies in.

I get what you are saying Hogg Bannan Deilph Petrov NRC Gardener thats 6 players to fill 2 positions and we are looking to add to that, and still short of strikers and cover at left back

It's the difficult balance between the "now" and benefitting from the product of our youth system. We need some midfield operators now; we need to create an environment in which the younger players can flourish rather than flounder in the first team ... but you know all of this.

I agree wholeheartedly. One defensive one would do.

I think it would mean that the new ones are ready for the Premiership now whereas the young ones we have can be loaned out for a season or so and let them build up their confidence etc before appearing for us.
(A bit like Walker really)

A couple of moments made me chuckle the other night at Hinckley -

The guy announcing the goals played music each time and on a couple
of occasions wasn't sure of the scorer, but Chris Herd obliged by pointing
to the number on the back of his shirt -

When Arsenal managed to pull a goal back, KMac went ballistic at the
defence for sloppy marking.............I think we were 8-0 up at the time lol-

Overall considering the appalling weather and heavy pitch our lads played
some sublime football and Arsenal ........well they threw the towel in after
possibly the third goal went in -

Great to see Gary Gardner and Andreas Weimann back in action .........

Thanks for posting that, lots of great goals on there, all of the players did well and the gooners looked like a pub team at the back.

Highlights here. Great win, but does make you realise how weak the standard in the reserve league is. Surely the likes of Weimann, Gardner etc would be better off at championship sides?
