Shrewsbury bring in Aston Villa striker James Collins

"Shrewsbury bring in Aston Villa striker James Collins

Collins had a loan spell with Darlington last season
Shrewsbury Town have signed young Aston Villa striker James Collins Collins, 20, had been on loan at Burton Albion but has now agreed a permanent 18-month contract at Greenhous Meadow".

I always thought he looked a useful player I'm surprised that they have sold him rather than a loan deal.

He was scoring regularly for Burton and always scored lots of goals for the reserves and youth teams

Another stupid decision from Houllier.  He is strong, scores goals, a handful. Madness.

he was never going to be good enough...

decent enough finisher at lower levels, and strong, but he has a shocking first touch and no pace...

i wish him well for the future though...

My my, you do have a downer on Hotlips don't you!

How is it madness to sell a player who did okay in the fourth division and was never going to get anywhere near our first team?

Houlier would have spent talking to the coaching team about the lad  i.e Cowans and Kmac...  They obviously told him he aint going to be a prem player...  bit like a few of our first teamers  ;-D

Doubtful that Houllier has seen James junior play let alone speak to the lad -

Whole hearted player who will work his socks off and has a knack of scoring
goals, something we are lacking in the first team-

All the best for the future James -

Er...because we have a centre forward who is out suspended for three games, another who Houllier has fallen out with and selling off to our relegation rivals and won't play, and no-one else to play off the bench if either Agbonlahor or Delfonsou get injured/fall out with Houllier.
Seems common sense to me to keep him at least for a while, and as I've seen him at every level which you obviously have'nt I think he could do a job for us in our present state.

Seen him in the reserves, have discussed his progress with Burton fans (still friendly with a couple since Burton were Tamuff's "rivals" in the Conference.

He'll do okay in the lower leagues.

I hope we got a percentage for future transfer.

Don't like selling young players without giving him his chance at top level, but the coaching staff know more about his level of quality than people like me.
