I seem to remember that Brian Little was slated for not picking him and sticking with the old guard. Now where have I heard that before ?.  JG came in, promptly picked him and we went up the league. We then all congratulated ourselves for knowing more than BL. I have to confess he never he achieved his potential but he played a major part in keeping us up that year.

Remember taking my Dad to a game at Villa and he likened Hendrie to one of the Simpsons, not anyone in particular, just his colour.  Good luck wherever he goes.

Anybody who has seen the Villa's Top 100 Goals DVD can't fail to miss how many feature Lee. A very talented kid who loved playing for the Villa, even if he came from the blue quarter of the city.

I think it's because he was the local lad we could all relate to. He had at his feet what most of us could only dream of, and yet despite some highs he spurned his opportunity to become one of our best ever players. I think we're just bitter and remorseful on his behalf.
