Celtic have just signed this guy,, he's fit for the first time in ages,, in my opinion a much much better bet than pires !!!!
what a ludicrous post, you are a short sighted idiot!
Pires was signed because we had no players and he was fit, available and able to start straight away.  Some people will moan about fucking anything!

Bit harsh. But each to their own I suppose.

Probably because Pires was signed when we had no players. Whereas it's January now and we're able to sign players.

Having watched Ljungberg in the MLS over the last 2 years, we are not missing him or his wages... I remember we were linked with him before he moved to the Arse in 1998, shame as he was a good player in his day. If we would have got him before Celtic we could have got Mellberg back too, then we would have had some fun and games at Bodymoor!

You are of course basing your comments on what ??
A short sighted idiot am I ?? I believe the signing of Pires to be one of the worst signings villa have ever made, a la Balaban, this guy will never make an impact, is getting driven around like royalty , and will never be as committed to Villa as Bannan is , so why sign him ??
Moan about Fucking Anything ?? Please point out my other moans on this site ??
My Point was and still is,, if Villa are now looking at these kind of signings , why havent we signed him ?? Surely he is the same kind of risk as Pires yet he was hailed as a saviour !!!

he was never seen as a saviour, however he was another experienced body to have available whilst some more of our pros were getting fit, as for moaning about anything, that wasnt aimed at you but to every moaner who posts on here lately, everyone will feel like they have an axe to burn on here, like everyone who bemoaned the shit football under oneill and now want rid of houllier because of the threat of relegation and now wants stability back!

Argumentative this I know , but has Pires shown us that he is better than anyone else that we had on the bench ?

He was signed at a time when Osbourne was nearing first team action and Salifou was almost getting on the bench. He probably wasn't worth the wages but it was a good gamble to take IMO.

Plus, we've no idea what he's offered on the training ground. At the very least he's given the manager an ally in the dressing room.

Pires is also French, and probably is buddies with Ged. Ljungberg is not French, and probably not buddies with Ged. Also Ljungberg was shit at West Ham, as others have pointed out.

Pires is a waste of space, twice against spurs the ball dropped to him on the edge of the box with no one around him.
Does he
A Lash a volley into the top corner.
B play a great pass to a villa player
C take control of the ball and retain posession
d sidefoot it on the volley straight at the nearest defender not once but twice

Pires was a much better player and more technically gifted. Ljungberg was more reliant on his pace back then too, which has gone. Pires has never relied much on pace.

In any case, Pires has proven so far to have been long past it. Ljungberg would prove equally inadequate. It's jan tomorrow, whereby we can go out and sign players much young, with their careers ahead, or at least players peaking.

We were playing the outstanding kids. The only ones we had left were Osbourne and Salifou.
