Having not seen him play for a long time it's hard to comment. I can see what your saying, although it probably isn't as straightforward as you make out. Besides, he'll find it much easier in the SPL.

Ljungberg is only 33. I thought he was older than that.

Probably because Pires was signed when we had no players. Whereas it's January now and we're able to sign players.

Pires was bad enough. Bear in mind that Pires actually was a far better player to begin with and was recently playing at a decent level in Spain rather than the MLS.

Watching him at West Ham (2, 3 years ago?)  it was evident he was shot and a year or so in semi-retirement won't help.

We have far wider horizons in January than free-agent hasbeens too.

I take it you didn't see him at West Ham a couple of years ago?

I can see what Kerms is saying I think..... not why did we not sign Freddie as well as Pires but if why if both were available why sign Pires over Freddie.

Probably that Pires was being touted around at the time and GH saw something in Pires that he thought would bring to a very young and inexperienced squad.

Sometimes a player available today wasn't available yesterday. shifting sands.

I truly think that in a less pressurised environment where we are struggling to get a win and flirting with the bottom 3 Pires would have added something to our squad.  But in our current situation he is like a rabbit in headlights and as such is an easy target for the boo boys.

what a ludicrous post, you are a short sighted idiot!
Pires was signed because we had no players and he was fit, available and able to start straight away.  Some people will moan about fucking anything!

Dear me, oh dear me, what are we coming to...

I take it you saw him perform for West Ham and heard what their fans thought of him?

When I heard that Ljungberg had signed for someone in Britain I immediately thought it must be us because he is so shit!

Thank the Lord for small mercies and all that...

You are of course basing your comments on what ??
A short sighted idiot am I ?? I believe the signing of Pires to be one of the worst signings villa have ever made, a la Balaban, this guy will never make an impact, is getting driven around like royalty , and will never be as committed to Villa as Bannan is , so why sign him ??
Moan about Fucking Anything ?? Please point out my other moans on this site ??
My Point was and still is,, if Villa are now looking at these kind of signings , why havent we signed him ?? Surely he is the same kind of risk as Pires yet he was hailed as a saviour !!!

Yep season tickets will definitely be getting ripped up because we signed one ageing squad player instead of another arbitrary one.

Robert Rasario.

He sounds exotic.
