Nice to see what they think of James £26m Milner...

link

Looking at some of the clowns on there you'd think Manchester City were Real Madrid circa 1960.

Oh and to add i have spoken to one or two Citeh fans and all they say is "yeah but look where we are in the league"

FFS for the money they have thrown around they should have had it won by now!

Reading that you really do despair about the modern football fan. The comments on there and the behaviour of Tevez speak volumes about the modern game and what a horrible monster it is turning into.

I could hear the Everton fans yesterday singing "2-0 and we've spent f*ck all....", fair play.

The last post on there (danp86) is bang on. Milner has his limitations as a footballer and until City start playing to his strengths, they'll never get the best out of him.

No no, as one points out, Jimmy was an ok player in a shit team. A team that finished 3 points behind them last year. Shit indeed.

To be fair there were similar posts, if slightly less vitriolic, on here about Downing last season.

Now, he's our top scorer and in the Guardian today they do a round up of the season so far and in the stats section he's 2nd only to Bale in the number of crosses made and third overall in number of chances created.

Interesting read that Bluemoon thread. They seem to be saying just about every player they have is lazy or disinterested. Perhaps a symptom of paying massive wages to mercenaries. That said some of the guys they criticise don't deserve it. I see Balotelli getting a lot of stick for being lazy. Yet, he's scored a decent number of goals in terms of his small number of appearances. I guess there is just no pleasing some people.

On Milner, they are just flagging a lot of concerns some of us on here had such as the lack of technique. BUT I still think he's a decent player and if he plays centrally rather than on the wing he could show that. I'm not sure if it will be at City though.

Reminds me of a shot from Playskool - without the same levels of intelligence, though.

Balotelli's a twat and deserves all the stick he gets. He's there for one reason, and one reason only. And it ain't trophies that top his list of priorities. Displays a shit attitude in matches.

In fairness to Milner, I moaned about him constantly in his first season with us. Came good after though.

Obviously it was because he was playing in a 'shit team' instead of the allmighty, all conquering Manchester Madrid.

For the period when Milner was out of form for us, it was clear to me that he was trying too hard. It would not surprise me, given the amount of money involved and the need to impress at Citeh, if the same thing is happening again.

You would think that with all their dosh, Citeh would employ some psychologists. Maybe they should sack Mancini and give the gig to  Fat Sam: he was big on that kind of thing.

That's the problem though.  Milner is better in the middle of the park than out wide therefore City will never get the best out of him as they wont give him the time to settle in a middle position.  It sounds as though he's going to become a very expensive squad player judging by some of those comments.

Well if Man City want their £18m and Ireland back in return for Jimmy coming back here I'd be more than happy with that.

He was brought into Man City for two reasons:
1. To rock Villa's boat completely off course.
2. To play as a winger.

They have the cash to able to justify number (1) and, to a large degree, it's worked a charm.
But, whilst he's a quality player in the middle of the park, he's not world class. And that's what the Man City fans want. And, just like they want (dare I say it, need) to win a lot of things fast. they need players to settle fast. And it rarely happens.

It'll take a continued run in the middle of the park until the end of the season for Milner to get into the kind of form that he was in for us. Mancini, nor their arrogant fans will afford him that. He'll be 2nd (maybe 3rd) choice for the wing. Which, I suspect, means he'll be off soon enough.

Would pride stop him coming back to Villa Park?
