You actually can drink in Qatar, in hotels and 'sports clubs'. I know because I've done it. It's a bit pricey, though. Haven't done the gay thing, so I can't comment, but heterosexual 'contact' in public is also illegal.

Holding hands in public with a girl, especially if you're not married, could be a problem. Kissing or hugging her in public would be a crime with a prison sentence. Oddly, however, given the country's - and whole region's - stance on homosexuality, holding hands with men in public is absolutely fine, in fact, normal for many men. Anything more amorous than that, though, and you'll be sent to prison, with a massive bunch of men. Which seems a silly place to send a man if you don't want him getting too close to other men.

Yes, it's a fucking silly world we live in.

It's almost worth going gay for the month just to annoy FIFA/Blatter.

I know he/they answer to no-one but I can't see how he can carry on after coming out with a load of shit like this.  It's 2010 for god's sake.

So it is 2010 and therefore statements like "going gay for a month" are not appropriate.

My love of modern football dies a little bit every day.  I just won't be bothering with international football in any form any more.
Agree Martin.
I lost interest in the national side ages ago, unless it's Villa involved I no longer have much interest in football matches full stop.

Instead of watching Tottenham v Chelsea on Sunday, i switched between the Snooker and the Mosconi cup.  Villa or nothing (exception of barcelona) for me.

Step Ladder is a cock of the highest order. He's turning FIFA into even more of a joke. He insulted Ireland year when they broached the idea of a replay, he is a c**t and the sooner someone shoulders him out of the way the better. He must be on the take. Despicable human.
Now where are my chaps?....

Why not?

Because people don't choose to go gay for a month?

I found it funny nonetheless.

Agree 100% 8 Ace. I used to watch whatever football was on telly religiously. Now I don't even usually bother with MOTD unless Villa are on, and even then usually only up to the Villa game.

Sepp doesn't like gays anyway.

He's well known for being a fanny Blatter.

EDIT Morrissey beat me to it, the Chiselling cad!

Exactly.
I'll speed through the recording to the Villa game, pausing only if the Dog shit or Stripeyfilth have been beaten.

Don't know about gays being made uncomfortable in Qatar.

What would happen if Israel qualify?

Why did they have to award it to Qatar anyway with that much heat even with air conditioning it's going to be unbearable.

Isn't it being pulled forward to Feb to avoid the + 50c temps ?

At every hotel in Doha, the upholstery clashes with the curtains. Fact
