I would love to know how this is going down on the passionate Toon messageboards. But I don't speak cretin, at least not fluently.

Have you finished that obituary yet?

Unless there are new owners lined up, more chance of Fat Sam getting it again than Wor Keegan.

It's my day off tomorrow, I'm sure they're trying to think of a way to strand me in the car park at St James',  talking to angry, crying buffoons

Very sad. Hughton mustn't be the ''big personality'' the powers at be feel they need up there. Can't think of any other reason they'd sack him - his record since taking over has been excellent considering what went before him. They've obviously been waiting for an excuse to get rid him for since the start of the season. Being nice gets you nowhere in some places. Hope the ****** get relegated now.

Wor Cockney Houghton didn't unastan tha Geordie peepul, like.

Though in fairness, I think he had the support of the majority up there.

I'd fully expect mon to take the job- I'm sure they will have appraoched who they want to take over before they sacked hughton- new manager expected to be appointed sooner rather than later- o neill will be a messiah there but it will all end in tears.

Mike Ashley is no randy lerner - but ashley and o neill deserve each other! Newcastle are run as a shambles and I'd love to see them go down under the blessed o neill!

Hughton was the only reason not to hate that club. Hopefully they will free fall and face relegation...with Shearobot in charge.

MON isn't going to go somewhere where the owner has expressly said that there will be no investment in player acquisition beyond that which the club earns.

Though you know how that works sometimes. MON wasn't going to get any more cash at Villa, but I bet GH gets a decent amount. Also remember a number of years back Lennie Lawrence at Boro getting nothing and then getting fired. In walks Robson and got a boatload of it. It depends if the Newcastle board have any ambition at all to hire someone with any kind of reputation. If they do, they're not going to get him without having something in the kitty.

That was my first thought.

But if he couldn't work under RL I think he'd run a mile at the thought of working for Mike Ashley.

I reckon they might approach Di Matteo or someone of that ilk.

If it happens, I expect Keane to sign and Jenas to return there.
