0% Villa - Stanley Park New Scouse Stadium
« on: December 05, 2010, 03:05:30 PM »
Works for Milan (as far as I know).

Both clubs having a 'home' end, a red end one side of the park and a blue end on the other side of the park - why on earth don't the scouse clubs 'pool' [if you'll excuse the pun] resources and get themselves the biggest stadium in Britain to charge fifteen - twenty quid for the working [or non working] man along with a large corporate offering  and compete with the mancs and the cockneys.

Is there any other way forward for these two great clubs? Our nearest rivals in my opinion.

Please share your opinions or provide a suitable title for a mersey super stadia.

It would have to be called San Giro (Groans from the Gallery).

It's a good idea and indeed I recall someone suggesting it a while back in one of the numerous have a laugh at Liverpool threads. It is the best option BUT people at both clubs seem to be unwilling to do it. I also don't expect the fans will like it.

I think Man U fans have already come up with all the potential names for Liverpool's new ground. Stanley Knife Stadium and San Giro were two I remember.

How many Villa fans would be happy about plans to build a stadium to incorporate Blues and Villa?

In most two-club English cities there are still distinct geographical districts in which the clubs are based and from which they draw their support.  About the one exception is the city of Liverpool.  Therefore if a shared stadium was to work anywhere, it would have to be with Liverpool-Everton.

That's another good example.  Did I read somewhere recently that Forest are contemplating a move away from the City Ground?

Only if we got the World Cup, I think.  They were on about building the biggest ground in the Midlands, I think they're just going to redevelop the City Ground now.

The only place I've seen this work is in Munich - where Bayern and TSV share the Allianz Arena. I went past it a few years ago - absolutely amazing sight - TSV were at home so it was all lit in blue.  When Bayern are at home it is lit in red. Don't know what the relationship between the two teams/fans was like prior to the ground share but I really can't see it working here because of the entrenched animosity between the supporters.  For the same reason I could never see us sharing a ground with Bloose.
