I must admit i had never heard of James Joyce before i read that article now i might have to go out and get one of his books to read out of curiosity.

DH Lawrence is the only major literary figure to write a competent account of a football match and the philosophy involved in Kangaroo his last novel. Read it years ago and not a dirty reference in it..mistook it for a bestial version of Lady Chatterley...one of the more knowledgeable experts will have to find the excerpt if you want to enjoy now..
DHL was not a villa fan to my knowledge being from Eastwood he was more likely a Forest fan...no evidence for this though I'm afraid.

Then there is the bit in To the Lighthouse where Virginia soliloquises on the musculature of a young defender showing off his sliding tackle...naah Lawewnce is enough for one day..
