0% Villa: Messi or Ronaldo?
« on: November 25, 2010, 02:18:06 PM »
Just saw the sky champions league highlights and after the Panathaniakos v Barcelona game they asked the panel of Souness, Hoddle and Venables to choose between these two.   They unanimously went for Messi.  Interested to see what general opinion is, because i don't think it's as clear cut as that.  So, who is the better player?

(Intended to put a poll in but can't for the life of me figure out how that is done!)

Messi every time. Not even close. Ronaldo is good but no team player and a flat track bully. Messi puts in the effort for the greater good.

Messi in every aspect for me.

His subtle changes of pace and turns are a joy to watch.

Apparently in Ronaldo's favour Messi doesn't score headers or free kicks, Xavi takes the set pieces, according to Hoddle.

I remember them saying that just before a game (was it a CL final?) when Messi then scored a header.

Messi everytime for me.

Messi, I think he'll become someone we are all talking about in 40/50 years time, Ronaldo is unlucky in that he would have been the best player in the world during a lot of other periods.

Messi, streets ahead and also in his favour is that he doesn't appear to be a c**t.

On a related note, did anyone see the fan run on to the pitch in the Barca game yesterday and flick the bird at Messi?

Messi any day.  He's miles ahead both as a player and as a person.

Whenever players are hacking at his heels, he carries on whenever possible.  Ronaldo just goes to ground, pulls that face of his (punchable, isn't it) and waves an imaginary card around.  He's a great player but an absolute tosser of a man.

Lionel Messi. that Maradona-esque goal he scored was simply sublime.
