The Skiing Thread (Redux)

The original skiing thread appears to have been a casualty of the last Forum upgrade.

Where are our wannabe Franzs and Peekaboos going this winter ?

Aspen. February. Can't wait.

I'm determined to get my group to the Rockies some time. However, although everyone's always dead keen when we started talking, we always end up booking up for the Alps.

I'll be in La Plagne for a week over New Year.

Has anyone skied there ?

A few times. Which village are you in? The East side is usually better as it gives you much easier access to Les Arcs which is a much more fun resort in my opinion.

We're doing La Thuile in February, which I've not been to since I was a kid. So that'll be fun.

Well, call me boring, but we've rented a chalet in Font Romeu and will be skiing in Les Angles and Pyrénées 2000. That said, it'll be an 80 minute drive up there with tons of wine and food in the boot so I won't be envying you rich bastards spending all your money in the Alps and Canada or wherever (apart from the variety of slopes that is).

But then you do have the three feet of slush to get through from about 2pm onwards.

Or it was in La Molina on my sole Pyrénées trip.

How come Leeg ?

As for me ? I'm off to Breckenridge again for two weeks at the end of Jan/beginning of Feb. Flying into Denver and picking up a 4x4 for the drive up to the resort.

We've booked the 'Epic' season pass as early season deals mean that at $630 it works out over $300 cheaper than separate passes amd includes unlimited access to Breck, Vail, Arapahoe Basin, Beaver Creek and Keystone.

Conditions are looking superb already, I can't wait !!!

Sounds great. Bad ankles, a dislocated knee and severe problems with my back.

Sorry to hear that Leeg :(

The chap I go with is sounding that he won't be able to carry on after this coming year due to bad ankles.
I don't know what I'll do after that.

'fraid all that posh stuff doesn't interest me.
Would love to try cross country and biathlon someday though - solitude and a rifle. Works for me.
