Forgot that Gary McAllister was his manager at Leeds for a while.

Looking forward to seeing Delph back.

Me too.  I just hope we don't expect too much from him too soon.

I'm sure Gary McAllister & Houllier won't rush him back.

Delph and Bannan could be a very good future centre midfield. Energy & talent by the bucket load.

If this place is anything to go by, prepare yourself to be disappointed Bren. He had half a decent season at Leeds (the first half) and a handful of good 45 minutes for us. The kid has a long way to go before being the type of player that will demand a place in our central midfield.

Great news that he's on his way back. He's got the raw, natural talent, now it will need developing. Like Bannan, Delph will have to be patient. As will the fans.

Excellent news, I'm a big fan of Delph. Maybe we should loan him out for six months to the Championship (Leeds?) so he can get his fitness back and some games under his belt. Then with a full pre season he'll be in great shape to start next season.

Agree with much of this, however MON's style of play didn't suit him. If you are a powerful midfielder looking to pass the ball or take people on, it must be frustrating to see the ball launched over your head up to the big man! He will come into his own in Houllier's style of play and will complement Bannan very well. I can't help but think that these two would need a physical minder  to play with them too.

With the old heads of Petrov and NRC (NRC not actually that old) and then the babies of Delph, Bannan and Gardner there is the potential for a pretty natural handing over of the guard for Villa's midfield (from NRC/Petrov to Delph/Bannan/Gardner).

However I think a top DMC signing is still necessary as it is highly unlikely that all three of the youngsters will make it (on the flip side - one will, and be signed by Man City).  I'd be looking for a 22-25 year old that has played a lot of games:  Defour or Witsel spring to mind.

Has Rene/Hot Lips/G-Dawg/The Houllinator spoken about Delph in the press since he came?
