Really impressed with him Saturday, he showed no nerves at all.

The best part of Saturday was the utter fearlessness of the youngsters, bizarrely, it's the older heads in defence who are slipping up.

You even get a mention in that interview Mark.

I see no mention of
'We want you to keep an eye on the tall fat ****** ambling round Trinity Road.'

I thought he looked totally out of his depth in the first 20 minutes, which was understandable, and gave the ball away too cheaply at times, but he got more into it as the game went on. I personally think that out of all the kids playing at the moment, he'll be the one most likely to move down the leagues, but i'll be delighted if he proves me wrong.

I think they miss a word out as it doesn't actually say what he wants Hogg to do with you - it just says I want you to .... mark Fletcher.  Bad grammar.

I fear we are getting a bit carried away by Hogg.  He did okay at times on Saturday, nothing more.

Good experience for him in his development though.

Although that may be true, considering who it was he was 'doing OK' against elevates the performance.

I have very high hopes for Clark, Bannan and Albrighton and hope Fonz proves me wrong as he's still very young, but Lichaj, Lowry, Hogg, Osbourne and Herd are all 21/22 now so I don't really see them establishing themselves at such a high level.  I expect they will drift away and the younger boys, Johnson, Gardner, Weimann, Forrester, maybe Collins etc will overtake them in the pecking order shortly.

I'm not sure he has what it takes to establish himself in our team long term. He seems like a neat energetic footballer but doesn't look to have that 'extra' that I think he will need.

However, our Academy's successes should not be considered just those that make it in our first team but also those that carve themselves out a decent football career, even if at a lower level.

I thought that he occupied a space on the pitch and made a couple of good tackles. Nothing spectacular. He did grow in confidence as the game wore on though.
