Can the fans (by consensus) choose a starting eleven
« on: November 05, 2010, 09:53:03 PM »
Use to be back in the early years of Cricket/Football clubs that the starting team use to be picked by members of a board/commitee voting by show of hands, which players would be in the first eleven.
Obviously things have slightly changed since then with responsibility for selecting the first team falling to an appointed Manager aided by his coaches/assistants.
With supporters now having the technological means to almost instantly express their views on websites such as H&V, it maybe that in future the new team selector of a teams starting eleven (by concensus) could be YOU, the supporter.
If such a fans concensus selection system was around today, what would the first team to start against Man Utd (Nov 2010) look like, and would it be much different from that team Houllier & Co will eventually select?

The main twenty-two man Villa squad list (with a few additions) is listed and everyone who participates needs to be logged in to vote, and has only 11 votes to select the first eleven (traditional 4-4-2 system)  to start against Man U.
Needless to say the Goal keeper/four defenders/ four midfielders/ two attackers with highest number of votes by the close of the poll, would be the players who (by Villa fans concensus) would start against Man U. :-\

I'm not surprised in the slightest that at the time of writing, Carew has no takers despite the exercise being completely hypothetical.

Isn't the Ebbsfleet United (?) team picked based on some sort of supporter input?

to be honest I picked big john up front(his 1st pick)

I have not gone insane

it's just if I was picking the team you have to have someone to muscle up the defenders to balance the lack of size/strength in the forward line
on his day(rare I know) he can be a nightmare for the opposition centre backs
and with Ash, Albrighton and Downing wipping the balls in he can nod them down to Gabby

Big Emile doesn't fill me with confidence because of the way he carries himself-he is uncomfortable with his size whereas Carew seems happy in his own skin-so to speak

Friedel,Young(L),Collins,Cuellar,Warnock,NRC,Young(A),Downing,Albrighton,Carew,Gabby
4-1-2-1-2

I rate Ireland but...he hasn't gelled yet

Think it is very telling how far Dunne has fallen in fans views that the majority would rather have Cuellar and Collins.  He really needs to sort himself out, but also seems to be a certain starter under the new regime.  Not good.
