Then it wouldn't be as good as it is with him and any of Dunne, Collins or Cuellar alongside him?

maybe if Cahill had shown the same patience as Clark we would have our wish. Let's not stir up that conversation up again. Besides, in my opinon he's a much better defender than Cahill which is the most important part of being in that position. Cahill is much better in attacking situations.

Delighted about this. Well done Ciaran.

Initially, perhaps not, however it might have been a promising partnership nevertheless. We are quite strong in that department.

Good news this.  I'd have considered a longer contract to be honest.

Anyone know if we put a sell-on clause in Cahill's contract?

Now we'll see what he's made of. The period after signing a fat new contract is when you see whether a young player has the real hunger and desire to make it. See Moore (L).

We need to be careful with contract length. So 4 years is good enough as long he is hungry all the way.

The only thing lacking from this lad's game is awareness. Once he learns that he'll easily be one of the most cultured defenders seen at Villa in many a year.

I disagree, he certainly has that. The only he thing he lacks is expeience and doesn't look too bad for that either.

Anyway, this is good news. A class player and future Captain.

The best thing about him is he's left footed so can give us that natural balance, he looks like a very talented player but we just need to pick and choose which games to play him in

Already a very good player, potentially a great player, this is very good news.
