I took my four year old Carew mad lad with me, and we sat in the Doug Ellis lower - decent view. Unfortunately we didn't get there early enough to get the stickers for the autographs so thought we would have no chance of pictures or autographs.
We tried in vain to get Carew's photo, - in fairness he was mobbed and then after about ten minutes of signings/photo's he got bored and legged it. Carlos Cuellar also seemed to be enjoying himself with the fans when his team mates had disapeared. We then moved to the lower North Stand in pursuit of getting a signing from Ashley Young who was by the Trinity tunnel. At this point Brad Guzan appeared and signed pics and had photo's for all the fans, - my lad was chuffed. (Wannabe goalkeeper), then NRC came across to the waiting fans and signed for all of them and had photo's. Stephen Ireland then made his way across from the Doug Ellis (where he had signed signed until all had left) - he then signed for every single fan. Gerrard Houllier (after doing an interview) then came across and posed for pics and signed his autograph. Then, when the stewards where telling everyone to go home as Ashley Young was "going down the tunnel" he ran across to the North Stand and signed/posed for every single person.
Notible contributions also from, Delfonz, Albrighton, Bannan, Warnock and Downing
Yes, I suppose you could argue that they 'should sign for the fans', but it was good of Ireland, Ash, Houllier, NRC and Guzan to go that extra mile, it certainly sent my lad home happy.
Shame the likes of Dunne, Sidwell, Collins, Friedal, Beye, Heskey, couldn't have been as willing as their team mates.
All in all, well done to all who organised it.
