Get well soon

Quote
Salamanca midfielder Miguel Garcia had to be revived after an hour of the Spanish Segunda Division match with Real Betis today.

In what are disturbing scenes to watch, the 31-year-old midfielder seems to be walking around the middle of the pitch gingerly before collapsing on his face.

The positive news is that initial reports from Spain suggest doctors from both teams acted urgently and resuscitated the player and used a defribilliator to restore Garcia’s normal heart rhythm.

Garcia left the stadium in a stable condition and is at the time of writing undergoing tests in hospital.

Salamanca had been 1-0 down at the time and with their players visibly shocked, some even in tears, they went on to lose 3-0 at home to Real Betis.

Hope he makes a full recovery.

Should they not postpone the game when these things happen?  How the hell are his mates expected to carry on as if nothing has happened?  Surely the opposition wouldn't mind.

It seems wrong to carry on playing the match after something like that.

I read somewhere recently that a top level midfielder can burn up to 4000 calories in a game, thats got to put a strain on anyone with any kind of physical weakness.

Good luck to the lad.

If that was me and i was lucky enough to make a good recovery from that i'm not sure i'd want to play again.  Hope he gets well soon.
