The Away Allocations
« on: October 21, 2010, 03:10:40 PM »
This is just a query on how we’re getting away with giving out allocations of just 2,448 this season. As that is what we’ve given SHA and Man United, while Arsenal are getting 2,600. How are we fiddling the figures to get them so low?

I think the reduction is due to the Council penalising them for persistent standing. Arsenal fans never move (or sing).

SHA can shift about 1200, each one of which has to attend the match with either a carer or a probation officer, or in a few cases both, then throw in Barry Austin who needs four seats, and you arrive at 2,448.

Sounds logical to me.

Good answer that, Paulie.

Could it be to do with segregation?

Segregation and limiting it to the groups that stand alot.

That said, we did this last season, but the sell-outs all had the same attendance.

It's to do with persistent standing. Birmingham council have decided to cut some team's allocation to 2400, yet they let away teams have 4000 at the Sty (not saying i want more away fans at VP but it seems a bit odd to me).

Saw this comment from a Man Utd fan on another board aswell, ''£45 for Villa away, it was only around £30 just a few years ago. Hyper-inflation from the 'best owner in the world' Mr Randy Lerner''. He has a point, Chelsea's tickets for example have been £45+ for years now, how can we justify jumping from 30 odd quid to £45 in a few years? If we were signing top class stars and were in the Champions League then fair enough, but our players are still average and we'll still be 6th-10th. Also we slated Blues and Chelsea for charging over £40 and now we're just as bad.

I think it must come down to segregation and crowd control that one team can get 2,600 and another get's 2,448.

And an Arsenal fan's view: £43 for Arsenal as well at Villa. There has been a disgraceful inflation of ticket prices by some clubs in recent years, clubs who have done nothing on the field to justify such price increases.

You can bet it would be closer to the highest price we now pay than the lowest.

I mentioned this on the Tickets thread but Fulham charged 49 quid in their neutral end last week, knowing it would be full of Spurs fans. It's fucking racketeering. However much I hate Spurs fans.

They're charging 35 quid against us

All away fans should be charged the same, simple. I don't like them but why should Man Utd fans be charged more than Wigan fans just because they support Man Utd? Anything over £40 is a joke, and we're now included in that, but if you're going to charge one team £45 then you should charge everyone that price. Or if you're going to charge small club's fans £25 then you should charge everyone £25, you're basically punished for supporting a bigger club and having more fans.
