Pubs near Villa Park
« on: October 11, 2010, 10:43:57 AM »
I am sure that lots of you know the answer to this, so sorry if the question seems naive.  Where are the pubs screening Sky Sports near Villa Park, so that I can take two visiting friends to watch the Tyne Wear derby, straight after the Blues derby?  And also, how do season ticket holders actually get in to the Holte End bars because they are always full when I try?!

Aston Social will have it on, as will the Adventurers. I cant remember whether the the pubs may be forced to close immediately after the game.

It's a weakness of the vacinity of VP in my opinion that there are no decent pubs very near to the stadium.

I guess the best one is our very own Holte, but it's very limited in capacity and by invitation only etc. as we know.

The Adventurers is a total doss hole.

The Ruskin hall is the best bet, ill be in there before. Social had the Chelsea Stoke game on after blose last year but was rammed and there was lots of music on, people in party moods so wouldnt recomend. Its a pound to get in the ruskin hall.

Many thanks for your responses.  See you at Ruskin Hall, 2.00, Sunday 31st, to toast victory over SHFC.

As an aside I noticed yesterday that the Rat Pan had finally shut, when did that happen?

Ruskin Hall was £1 on the door last year. I was there about 9am and it was pretty busy then.

There's also the Witton Arms (formerly the Cap 'N' Gown) and The Yew Tree. Avoid the rabble that go to the Barton's Arms, though.

Not least because the Bartons has no Sky.

Bit harsh - Witton's hardly the West End is it! The pubs around the ground are what you make them - The Aston Social's decent enough, as is The King Eddie's, if you don't mind a stroll then the Villa Taverns still a good boozer.
