Gough isn't too bad. Irani is an imbecile. H&J are quality.

What did Sid have to say?

Talksport is the broadcasting equivalent of flypaper.

Irani should be left there.

Precis, please.

Houllier is a good communicator who tells them precisely what to do in each training session.

Randy greatest achievement is to right the wrong Ellis perpetuated on the team of 80-82.

In Sid's day the players had a drink and Saunders turned a blind eye because they trained hard.

Sounds like the emphasis is on posession. Training very different and team discussion is all positive.

Pat Murphy interviewed him and the dig at Ellis was clearly set-up. Poor Doug...

Good interview.

The main emphasis in training was to retain the ball better and Sid hoped we (the fans) had seen little glimpses of this in the two games so far.

Sid basically taking about Houllier's methods:

- meeting every morning for the coaching staff - instructed to do something different every day, a lot new to the players but one of the main objectives is retaining possession - he used the phrase "total football"
- meeting with the players before they leave the hotel before each game, to discuss tactics etc (not earth shattering maybe, but the implications was that the tactics might differ according to opposition!)

Also talked a bit about 81/82, said it was great that the famous commentary was up on the North Stand and said that was clever of Lerner (although isn't that down to one of the regular posters on here?)

Said MON was also fantastic in that the first question he asked when he arrived was "where's the picture of the 82 EC winners?"  Had a dig at Ellis for not allowing the same during his tenure at the club.

Favourable comment from the Monday night panel after the interview as well, including McGarry, the bellend (who was on shortly after MON resigned and basically said we were sunk without him, also started that totally bulls**t rumour about Friedel going to Fulham).  Said Houllier's English was better than some English managers, that's why he had been able to hit the ground running.

Sounds great, the emphasis on possession is the big thing for me. We have some very good players and with the right additions and the right philosophy I think we can be very good side.

Don't you find it ironic that Heskey couldn't score in a piss up in a brewery when we were playing hoofball, and now we are starting to pass it about a bit more he has two in two.
