Today I emailed Tom Fantini, Head of Facilities at AVFC advising him of the traffic problem and asking that he passes the email on to whoever deals with this if not him.

A silver Merc ; C63 AMG was by me in the traffic on Saturday, number plate H33 KSY, and he was there, at a standstill like myself and all the others were.

Maybe Ivanhoe can put a complaint in to the club as well  :-\

I raced that Merc down to wembley for the Cup Semi last season, was definatly not Heskey.

Strange no plate then !

Yep, not bad......

I don't expect a reply from the club, but if I do, I'll post it.

I blame all the people who leave early to 'beat the traffic'.

I blame all the people that go to the game and wonder why it takes a little bit longer to get home than if they were the only person on the road.

Dare I say it but park a bit further away?

Exercise is good for you plus imo it's a traditional part of going to the match that you have a decent walk to the ground.

The one bonus of a low crowd, I got straight home, no traffic anywhere!

Quite slow when we left.

Thought it was weird approaching the ground at 7.30, there was seemingly hardly anyone there.

Yep, swear by this method and have never struggled to escape traffic.

No problems tonight, even the 7 got into town in time for two beers before eleven.

For anyone who's bothered, Villa are in constant liason with the police about this as they are very aware of the problem.

The police can 'manage the traffic' but not entirely on the club's say so - and the police have been re-organised recently and set priorities due to lower resources.

Thus, Aston Hall Road after a Villa game is not a priority.

In summary , the problem is that the police are under resourced and the flow of traffic away from the ground after matches is not a high priority for them.

Lee was frusrated but had his hands tied and the club's hands are tied.

all it takes is a line of cones outside the pub, and a steward from the club standing there. hardly a squadron of thousands...

I would imagine Aston Hall Road is a bit too far away from the ground for stewards to be used.
