Traffic leaving the ground
« on: September 18, 2010, 07:45:48 PM »
Dreadful.

The traffic heading away from VP towards the M6 is appalling this season.

There used to be a policeman at the end of the road not allowing on-coming traffic ( heading towards the ground)  until the crowd had dispersed, but not this season.

Must be sorted, it's awful getting away from VP at the moment.

Anyone at the club deal with this ??

Agreed - I was wondering where the Police were again.

Surely the roads should be made 'one way' around the ground.

I can also never understand why the road past the Trinity Road is still open so close to kick off times.

Some cars absolutely fly down there - with seemingly no concern for the pedestrians.

Had no problems today to be honest, turned left at Aston Station, up past the King Edward and on to the Motorway.

Not closing the road was ridiculous again yesterday - made worse by a bloke having a heart-attack in the car park opposite Aston Tavern, and the Keystone Cops operation that tried to get help to him. Anyone know what happened to him?

The road that the #7 bus goes up is dreadful.

Probably due to financial cutbacks meaning less bodies being made available to police the traffic.

One chap was trying to drive his Range Rover up Witton Lane immediately after the match. I'd have given it 10 minutes for the crowd to clear.

I think the Albion Blues game probably had more to do with it. That and closing of a large section of South Birmingham for the Pope.

Don't think so, it was the same for the West Ham game.

Indeed, and it was like that for lots of seemingly randomly selected matches in the latter half of last season as well.

Agree, I'm going to email the club as it is ridiculous.

Imagine after the Chelsea defeat in a few weeks time, it will be something like 8pm on a Saturday night trying to get away from the car park, and I for one  will desperately want to get home for 9 pm not 10 !

Today I emailed Tom Fantini, Head of Facilities at AVFC advising him of the traffic problem and asking that he passes the email on to whoever deals with this if not him.

A silver Merc ; C63 AMG was by me in the traffic on Saturday, number plate H33 KSY, and he was there, at a standstill like myself and all the others were.

Maybe Ivanhoe can put a complaint in to the club as well  :-\
