McAllister was a top class signing by GH at the time and I'm sure he could teach NRC how to pass.

Not so sure about the NRC comment, but GH could do a lot worse than McAllister - he knows how to play the game.

If McAllister can't teach NRC to pass then there is no hope.
If he cant pass by now I would suggert there is no hope.

I couldn't give a fuck about the benefit to English football of developing English managerial talent.

I can't hear Alan Shearer or Monkey-Face Keown voice an opinion without wanting to throw heavy objects around the room.

As for Southgate, he can apply for a job at the Villa when he's had a successful spell of management at a decent club.

Surely not ? we will never have enough ambition for  Mr. Ambition!

I'd welcome Southgate back.  I think a few years tutelage under Ged would be ideal for him.

I don't think he did too bad a job at Middlesboro, if anything he just had bad timing, joining just after the big spending days.  I'd also suggest his record stands up against Strachan's (...who's record at Celtic was comparable with...).

He clearly has the ambition and wants to get to the top.  With Ged providing contacts etc it could work nicely.

I'd throw Grayson and Cowan's names in there too.

I'd go with that.

Gary McAllister is the latest name linked. I'd be quite happy with that, seems to be a thoughtful and intelligent man and obviously knows Houllier well.
Did pretty well in his brief sprint at Coventry.
I'm sure he'd go the extra 100 yards for us.
I'm sure Houllier will pass him the baton shortly.

Could be a Bolt out of the blue!

If we are wanting McAllister appointed because he used to be able to pass a football I'd say we have an ideal alternative candidate already working for us with the youth team.

mcallister might be an interesting choice...

houllier is a defensive minded counter attacking manager...

someone like mcallister might help add some attacking flair to the tactical side of our play...

Hopefully not with hurdles as we have enough of those to get over with getting Houllier on board

What was McAllister's record like at Coventry then?  And he was doing well why was he there such a short time?

Same reason O'Neill left Celtic, although with sadder results.

Indeed - for those unaware of his sad loss
