There are two lines missing:

"In view of this disappointment and as a gesture to supporters, we will be offering a £20 discount when the shirts go on sale. This is still a considerable mark-up on the cost price, as produced in the sweat shop in Taiwan.

"Of course, this also presents a great opportunity for those fans looking for the ideal Christmas gift."

It looks like they are aiming for the Christmas market now in my eyes as they have missed the start of the season holiday purchasing window as already mentioned.

I think after this shambles and several poor kit designs,  maybe us and Nike should call time on the deal and we should look elsewhere for a shirt supplier.

I've finally worked out how we can blame this on MON. It's because he used to buy late in the transfer market the club directors now think this is how all things should happen in Football. That's why we won't see our new manager in charge until 7 weeks after the old one walked out and we won't see the new shirt until 4 months after the season has started.

Then perfectly timed for the January Sales market  ::)

I'm speechless about this. I wonder if Manchester United and other major clubs supplied by Nike have been affected in this manner.

I seem to remember back around 1990 when Villa's shirts went from being made by Hummel to Umbro, the apparent reason was because Hummel had had a replica supply problem.

As said by someone else, maybe its time that Nike are given the push.

The sponsors pay for the appearance on players shirts on TV and in newspapers more then they pay for for us normal plebs to wear them.

Slightly off topic but didn't a newspaper get pissed off with a football club once and airbrushed the sponsor out of the pictures it printed?

Bloody hell, what on earth are they doing at VP?  We're doing a good impression of being run by a bunch of clueless numpties at the moment.

I was a bit concerned when I saw the headline "Official Statement", then when I saw it was only about the shirt I was very relieved.

Bad for revenue I suppose.

Get Adidas in next time.
