If the board think he's the right man and he subsequently thinks thompson is the right man then I'm not going to argue.  If it turns out bad then so be it, but we've gotta go with the decisions they make.

Any attempt by the board to not let him pick his assistant would make us a joke.

A manager has to be allowed to make his appointments, anything else and he's just a stooge of the board. If he wants Thompson then he should get him. What next the board telling him which players to sign, what formation to pick and who to have on the subs bench?

If GH wants him then I'm happy with that.

Same if he doesn't want him.

Let the bloke bring in who he feels is needed for the job.

I'm not overly keen on GH, let alone the fact him coming possibly meaning our best coach in years leaving us.  The only crumb of comfort I took from GH coming was that K-Mac was still in there - if he's not then I'd rather keep K-Mac in charge until Xmas and await a better manager.

If he comes, Houllier has to be allowed to bring in staff as he sees fit, same as any other manager. I hope that means Kevin MacDonald can continue his great work with the youth team; if Houllier has any sense he'll let him do just that.

I agree. Altho I also really hope KM stays at the club and remains a happy camper.

The telegraph are reporting that the hold up on GH being confirmed is over the coaching role, Randy wants KM as first team coach for continuity and GH wants Thomson.

So we are becoming a laughing stock now!

Because we could now loose KM if he has to go back to the reserves.
