Friedel was behind Westerveld, and given he'd had a number of problems getting a pro contract and thus had only trained, he was probably rightly so.

As for Warnock, he didn't make his senior debut at liverpool till 04, because he was still quite young and they probably had an old pro, he was sent away to get experience, got POTS at coventry, who let's not forget had only gone down 2 seasons before, and therefore were not the small club they are today.

Anyway, even if it were true, who sees GH dropping Brad Snr or Warnock? Who would he replace them with?! Brad Jnr + Habib Beye?! No offence to Brad Jnr, but he's not ready, and Beye is crap.

I suspect it would be John Carew who would have more of a problem with Houllier than Friedel and Warnock. Houllier of course instigated the Baros for Carew swap which was one of the best bits of transfer dealing at Villa in recent times.

Friedel said in the Wembley programme last year that he was thankfull to Houllier for letting him leave and establish himself as 1st team keeper else where even when Liverpool at the time didn't have a back up keeper.

i hope Houllier comes in as Manager now just to shut all these stupid gossips up, also reading the comments on the NOTW saying Houllier is too big for Villa, and we should be happy in what we get!!!! i'm geussing we aint the popular team we once was!
