Villa defender injury not as bad a originally perceivedWales boss John Toshack has been awarded a reprieve after it was revealed that defender James Collins' injury was not as bad as first thought. The Aston Villa centre-back was apparently elbowed in the face during his country's 1-0 defeat by Montenegro in their Euro 2012 qualifier on Friday.Miodrah Dzudovic was the offender in the second half of the game in Podgorica in a challenge that left Collins in hospital with facial injuries. The 27-year-old suffered a severe black eye but had not fractured a cheekbone or a broken nose as originally feared by Toshack following the game.Collins will now return to Villa after leaving hospital on Saturday morning and will be assessed by club doctors over whether he will be able to play against Stoke a week on Monday.
Point taken.
Was 'apparently elbowed' is a bit of an understatement!
