As for you Damon, the glass on your house is a little thin when your throwing stones from the metropolis of East Dulwich.

Bah! We have an organic fruiterer now! And they've nearly finished renewing the gas main outside the library!

Well that is important when you haven't switched to electricity yet. You'll find there's a whole new world out there once you do.

Who let you know about that? The Americans?

Say the man in Pakistan denying India exists.

I think the worst thing about Canadians is that they think you give a toss about how different things are `back home.'

Really, no, I don't.

Vimy Ridge though, I'll give them that. Can never drive past it without getting a lump in my throat

what's Vimy Ridge?

The times I ever watch MOTD the Villa are rarely if ever last on the show. Ross just loves to throw us in with Small Heath and the Baggies in a vain attempt to make out we're as shite as the team he follows. He can kid himself as much as he likes, but don't try and kid the rest of us.

Sorry, you caught me out as suddenly we are talking about Canadian being brave fighters in the war. Which they were. Intially I thought we were talking about some other no name 'nose player they signed in the transfer window. Or maybe it was our codename for Agent Ridgewell.

On MOTD2 Colin Murray had the guests pull the matches out of a brown paper bag to decide the order. Villa were second, Liverpool were last.

So I think they are getting used to this kind of criticism.

Any chance the brown paper bag was fixed ?

We should be used to it by now ..............the media of the time backed Ipswich Town
when Ron Saunders' 14 went for the title 'back in the days'

Ironically they film Hustle in Brum, but then pass it off as Manchester.

The last series of Survivors was filmed in Brum too.  They passed it off as a post-apocalyptic desolate hole.

All they could say was that Wolves were scheduled to be on last that night as well. I was amazed they had decided that before the games had kicked off.

Now that just really annoys me, Tom Ross comes across as a moaning nanny, but the above is just so what I expected from the beeb. They plan the games orders before they even know the results.

BBC should take into consideration the days earlier televised matches too. A lot of people would have already seen 2 games in full, yet more often than not these are the games they show first. Thats probably because they involve the bigger clubs.

Anyway I'm back on Sky now, so watch Football First instaed. Man I missed it do much.

On a more general level the following true story illustrates how groups of people -in this case Brummies- can be pigeon-holed, with negative consequences.

Last April, a friend of mine was kind enough to buy me a novel. She did this because she had fortuitously come across a book-signing session by an author I quite like.

This author specialises in detective novels set in the Peak District. As she was having the book signed, she asked the author if there was any prospect of the books being adapted for TV.

His reply was that a TV deal had been close but had slipped away because of the recession. The author added that there had been problems during the negotiations, ie. one of the characters, who was from the West Midlands in the book, would have had to originate from London in any proposed TV series.

The reason? Apparently Brummies are only suitable for comedy roles on TV, as their accents are a barrier to being taken seriously as characters...

Just found this thread.

To anyone complaining about MoTD I say remember what a great(!) job ITV's "The Premiership" made of highlights.

I seem to remember people on this forum renaming it "The Premiershit."
