Delph is all about potential in that he has loads of it, it’s ok pulling up trees against teams in the 3rd division but we need to see if he can do it consistently in the Premiership. I agree he has all the attributes to be a quality player but then so have so many other young talents that haven’t fulfilled their earlier promise. Having said that I think he should be battling for a place with Petrov and NRC in the team when fit.

Delph most talented in the squad? That’s a new one on me.

I think you'll see what i mean in 3 years time (injuries and temperament permitting).

If he's the most talented in the squad he won't need 3 years to show us what he can do. I think you have just said the one thing that will stand in his way - temperament. Thats the one thing that gets a promising kid on the next step towards a regular then a 'star'.

Yeah, the temperament thing is something that means you can never be sure, but from what i have seen of him, his passing is unbelievably good, he's not frightened to get stuck in and has quite a forceful challenge for a little 'un (although his timing may need some work). He's also pretty quick and he bursts forward into the box and knows where the goals are, so really he has the lot. And thats what i'm talking about, talent. I'm not saying he's currently our best player, i'm saying his overall attributes technically are better than anyone else we have. He could take 3 years to show us his best, Dwight Yorke played for us for 6 years before we saw his best.

My go:

-----------------Brad Snr-----------------

Young---Cuellar----Dunne---Warnock

---------------NRC----Petrov-------------

-----Albrighton--Ireland---Young------

-------------------Gabby-------------------

Not a bad line up in my opinion.  Good balance and flexibilty, particularly in attack where I would allow the 3 to swap pretty much a will as Petrov and NRC would cover the main defensive duties.

Once fit, Delph would be pushing NRC hard for a spot in the team.

------------------------------------------------Friedel--------------------------------------------

L. Young------------------Cuellar-------------------------Dunne-------------------Warnock

-----------------------------Petrov-------------------------Reo Coker-------------------------

Albrighton--------------------------------Ireland------------------------------------A. Young

-------------------------------------------Agbonlahor-------------------------------------------

Subs: Guzan, Lichaj, Collins, Clark, Downing, Carew, Delfouneso

To be improved: Goalkeeper and Defensive Midfielder. We won't see much of Delph this season but next I'd put him in for Petrov. We do look light for good CM options.

Just out of interest.

At the moment Delph, Weimann, Collins, Dunne, Gabby and Carew all have injuries of one sort or another.

Does your line up and bench still work against Stoke in the next match?

That side would see Newcastle esque results on a regular basis.

I'd be quite happy to see Ireland eased in gradually though, by no means a guaranteed starter initially. I was a bit concerned that Kev Mac seemingly paid no heed to last weeks drubbing and wanted to go with the same midfield v Everton.

Ireland from the bench can still be a useful weapon, coming on with 25-30 minutes with the opposition tiring. His vision and accurate passes could pull sides apart in that crucial phase. The Berger/ Maloney role, if you like.

The thing is, as he's to all intents and purposes our Milner replacement (until we buy a more Milner-type player) and left ManCity cos he wasn't going to get a game, there's no way he'll be used sparingly like Berger or Maloney. He and Young will always play when fit. Hopefully it won't require too much shoe-horning once he's up to speedl

 Mazrim's team for me.

Would like us to by a better attacking RB, and another quality RS defensive midfielder than Petrov. But i think that is quite a good team that not many teams would beat.

Smudger is right about Delph.People in the media keep going on about Wiltshire, and Rodwell, i would'nt swap either of them for Delph. For me he is , when fit, about a year away from being a regular international, i rate him that highly.
