Time to go back too basics!!!
« on: August 26, 2010, 10:52:31 PM »
We need to get back to basics guys.

We need every one in their proper positions,

Ash must be wide left, he is shite in 'the hole'
Petrov and NRC must play infront of the back four,
Downing/Albrighton wide right
Ireland behind Carew(Gabby when Fit)

I am really worried about the way we are playing, we look lost.
There is no coesion, no communication and everyone is out of position.

We are currently a club in freefall and if we are not carefull this season could turn from a bad to a disaster!

I'd rather have Sidwell in there than Reo-Coker at the minute, the arrogant twat doesn't even seem to care anymore.

Friedel
L. Young Cuellar Collins Warnock
A. Young Petrov Sidwell Downing
Ireland
Agbonlahor

Is our best side at the minute I reckon.

Gibbo, that's why good  Managers are paid bg bucks.

We're £2.5 / £3 million a year away from this at the moment.

I've never seen a professional football team play without a formation in my life!

Today I can only imagine Kevin McDonald's team sheet prior to the game said 4-?-? for his formation.

When players did appear in recognised positions we had wingers playing up front and strikers playing on the wing.

On top of that, our four centre halves appeared to want Thursday nights off for the rest of the season.

Unbelievable.

Man on the match for what? He was fucking around high up the field when his job is as a defensive midfielder.

Thought both reo and ireland put in ok performances, and didn't thin ash was shit in the free role either, in fact in terms of commitment and actually posing a threat, he was our MoM.

you cant question Ash's commitment, but we have missed Ash's threat on the left,

For the last couple of years our main threat has been over the top or through Ash, its like we have lost Ash although he has done ok in the hole.
But that is Irelands best position,

Villa have the perfect squad to play 4231

I'd agree 4-3-2-1 is the way to go, but with Carew's somewhat abject performance in the last game, i think we'd need Gabby to be fit for Everton and be the 1 up top.

Can't believe you pick Petrov. He's terrible and slows everything down all the time.

Post like some in this thread show exactly why maangement is such a hard job.  It's so easy to pick flaws with each individual performance tonight but the reality is that there were major errors by beye and davies which directly led to 2 of the goals we conceded and we missed a couple of very good chances at the other end.  No mistakes and slightly more clinical finishing and the score could easily have been 4-0 the other way.

As fans it's easy to jump on anything to pinpoint the issue but tonight was poor but as a performance no worse than a number we've seen the last few years and will see countless numbers of in the future, the reality is at the level we're playing the difference between winning and losing is only a very small margin in a lot of cases.

What is clear is that in the last few years MoN has been the bridge between those and Kev Mac isn't likely to be able to do the same (as I've said elsewhere he just doesn't look like he wants the job).  That means we need either a manager who can do the same or better still a playing staff that can.

I'd settle for playing an actual recognised formation. I agree on the 4-2-3-1.

I actually thought Ash did ok in the hole in the first half, but we were let down because playing so narrow up front means you have to have full backs who can push into midfield.

But more than anything else, we need to start defending like a premiership team.

I don't rate Collins anymore, I would even rate Davies ahead of him. Our best CB pair are Cueller and Dunne.

Carew is fucking lazy. It frustrates me no end to see a player just strolling around ...start playing or fuck off.....and for the love of God will they please stop bringing Heskey on.
