Brad! Bloody hell the keeper facing him would hide behind the goal amongst the fans. We thought Carew can put his foot through the ball.

And with his new tiger armed shirt, he would look scary (almost like Sully from Monsters inc actually) just running up

Gabby. It's time he became our senior striker and we should be prepared to allow him time to learn to become a penalty taker.

I'd go for Downing I think.  He took them for Middlesborough a few years back and did very well and as he's very much a confidence player getting a few goals would be good for him (conversely missing a pen would be a blow but I'd trust him).

If not probably big John or Gabby (which ever is playing), I always like the idea of strikers taking the pens, just by having to practice them it teaches them a bit of calmness under pressure which hopefully translates to 1-on-1s, etc.

Only thing with ash is he only ever puts it too his right Carew needs to calm down abit and he'd be great with more placement tbh but who knows maybe albrighton could have a good shout :)

I'm a big fan of Carew's 'hit it as hard as you possibly can' penalty taking technique.

Carew when he's on the pitch.

Ireland or Young otherwise.

Not Ashley. He's missed at least 2 out of not many attempts.

Didn't Downing miss about 4 or 5 in one season for 'Boro? I'm sure I remember him missing a couple in one game or missing in consecutive games.

If Carew was playing every game I would give him the job, as he probably won't I would give it Ireland.

Personally, I love Carew's approach to penalties. He just thwacks it with so much power it's untrue. Too many penalties now-a-days are placed ... and boring!

I get the feeling that if any goal keeper did get a hand to one of big John's penalties then it'd cause a bit of damage.
