New chants?
« on: August 17, 2010, 10:20:44 AM »
Browsing on one of the villa apps I have I came across this one on the vital villain I think it was called, anyway see what you think :p

YatesyVillain asks if it is time for a song?

With a new season we have a new broom and it's swept away a lot of frustration in the Villa camp. The atmosphere at VP came across as electric on Saturday, with a free-flowing, attacking performance to-boot! With a few new faces around both on and off the pitch, I wonder is it time to freshen up some of the songs we hear week in, week out at VP?

I was pondering this in the afterglow of the game against West Ham, and had a couple of ideas (together, it must be said, with slightly more than a couple of beers!). Despite having a season ticket in my youth for 12+ years, I'm now stuck in Singapore as an armchair fan, albeit one that regularly gets up at 3am to watch evening games involving the mighty boys in C&B!

Would love to hear one of these sung wholeheartedly over the TV commentary in an upcoming game!

Best up first - what about this one for our own Marc Albrighton?

Sung to the tune of 'knick-knack, paddy whack'.... He goes left He goes right He'll leave you on your arse all night He is Marc Albrighton, Wizard of the Wing Can you hear the Villa sing Villa (clap clap clap) Villa (clap clap clap) Villa (clap clap clap)

Surely with our new / temporary boss in charge there has to be some decent material for an 'Old MacDonald' song there somewhere? My lame attempt below, but I'm sure you lot can come up with something better!

Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O
And on that Team he had a [pause] Brad, EE-I-EE-I-O With a Dive Dive here and a Dive Dive there Here a Dive, there a Dive, everywhere a Dive Dive
Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O
Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O
And on that Team he had a [pause] Dunne, EE-I-EE-I-O With a Head Head here and a Head Head there Here a Head, there a Head, everywhere a Head Head
Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O
And on that Team he had [shouts] Carew, EE-I-EE-I-O With a Goal Goal here and a Goal Goal there Here a Goal, there a Goal, everywhere a Goal Goal
Kev MacDonald had a Team, EE-I-EE-I-O

Righto, that's my limited creative juices exhausted for a few years. I look forward to being told I'm an idiot and need to grow up (although I already get that a lot from the wife!) Really would love the likes of Albie to get his own song though - anything we can do to big him up and keep his confidence high the better! Little gem of a fella that one..... Onwards and Upwards!

I really like the albrighton one, can imagine that being sung by the Holte quite often this season.

We do need some new chants that's for sure.

Actually what we need is our own bloody anthem. I mean even SHA ( hawk, spit in the dust emoticon) have that bloody dirge of theirs. Why have we never had our own song?

Albrighton would scan very nicely into All Night Long by Lionel Richie....
