It would be a lot of fun.

The Coke dealers of Aston would be ecstatic, as would the girls at Funplace. We're not going to win the league, the publicity would be mental. Hell yes!

Diego is one of my footballing heroes, but I wouldn't want him anywhere near our dugout.

This is about as credible as Eusebio or Gordon Banks throwing their hat into the ring.

if he was to put his boots back on, he'd probably still be as fast and mobile as Barry

Maradona's tactics before the World Cup of course being to play four centre-halves across the defence.

And holder of the opinion "why do I need my full-backs to attack? I have wingers to attack"

This story has the same credibility as when he was going to be signed as a player for the shit across the city.

It's a good headline but not as good as "Nazi Pope Steals Our Gold", or the story, pre-derby about Villa fans on the Holte wearing "Tracy Andrews wigs".
The story has now reached the national media, Colin "fucking" Murray has just mentioned it.

I buy the Mercury every Sunday during the football season because of the non-league coverage. When I go to the newsagents I hide it under a copy of "Beastiality Today" to save any embarrassment.

From the same paper that brought you 'Maradona To Sign For Birmingham City' and 'Beckenbauer New Villa Boss'

Wouldn't be a dull moment if he did.

Dread to think of the consequences

Could you imagine it? Maradona grappling with the dementors behind the dugout after criticism of his 10 up front tactics.

Although if the quotes from his agent are to be believed I do like the fact he calls us a big club, not a selling club and makes no reference to our fans being fickle.  Put him on the possibles list if he doesn't plan to re sign Zat Knight.

Are we sure he didn't mean David Villa? As in "I would love to manage [David] Villa"? Of course in Argentinian it's pronounced "Beeja", so who knows.

They had nearly a week to bring the inside story of Villa's dramatic week, but we get this. It's immediately laughed off by fans and the wider media. Everyone in the midlands already knew the Mercury was a desperate and comical rag, but their reputation has now deservedly gone far and wide.

I didn't realise that was his middle name, but it's very appropriate.
