Greg,  he did want to leave....             i know for a fact
This "did he want to leave" stuff is a bit of a nonsense. If you are a professional footballer, and you have the chance to move from a club stuck at around 6th to one which is prepared to improve your wages by tens of thousands of pounds a week and is buying the best talent in the world, with the realistic prospect of challenging for the highest honours, who would not want to leave for that?

Someone who wants to play every week.
..when not injured.

Milner has put his heart and soul playing for the club beyond a lot of other players. If Heskey, Davies and Petrov had showed his application throughout their time with us maybe we would have sneaked fourth.

There is no reson not to cheer and support him.

Questioning Petrov's effort is absolutely ridiculous.

I agree. It's not his fault he runs about as fast as an 80 year old.

Question his ability, yes. Commitment, no.

This is a great question and one where I believe we often let ourselves down.

The generally shocking treatment we reserve for our ex players is the one thing that constantly irks me about our support and I hope we don't give the media an opportunity to lay in to us.  We already have an unfair reputation for being fickle in cetrain areas of the media - mostly thanks to O'Fuckwit (that's DOL not MON) and his ridiculous ignorant comments.  Unfortunatley, that mantle has stuck for many.

Let's show some dignity and get behind the lad and the team.

It's only at clubs who refuse to rotate their squad adequately where players are guaranteed to play every week.

Tell that to Frank Lampard.

After chanting Gareth Barry's name on the last day of the season (and his last game) in an attempt to convince him to stay and witnessing what happend, I will be ignoring Milner and hopes he makes his mind up soon. Stay put or fuck off.

His mind his made up, if/when Man City settle with Ireland he'll be gone.

I won't boo him, but fuck all this "cheer him" nonsense that 17 soft tarts have voted for.

Tell that to Frank Lampard.

That's some crazy logic you got there: Lampard plays the majority of Chelsea's games, therefore Milner won't for Man City.

I expect Milner to play far more often than not and, on the occasions when he doesn't play, no doubt he'll be grateful for the rest.  Which, given his style of play, is entirely understandable.  Except if you happen to be Martin O'Neill.

You said "It's only at clubs who refuse to rotate their squad adequately where players are guaranteed to play every week." That is clearly a load of bollocks.

The facts are that the best players tend to play the majority of games even at the most succesful clubs.

I wouldn't boo him, purely because I don't want it affecting Villa. But the idea that Milner hasn't come out saying he wants to leave means nothing, his silence confirmed it.

we need to get behind everyone in a villa shirt today, it has been a difficult week for everyone at the club - the fans, players and board included.

None of which supports your view that Milner will somehow be sitting out a lot of the season at Man City, which is how this started.

The number of players who literally play every game are few and far between.  Either they have incredible stamina, they are too important to drop, or there is no alternative.  Or in some cases all three.  There were only 14 players who played in all 38 games last season, and 6 of those were goalkeepers.

What you're implying is that Milner is choosing to move to a club because he will be paid an awful lot of money for doing very little.  And that is nonsense.
