I'm not a fan of the £4 (or the Carlsberg) but I think it's worth it overall.  Nice surroundings, reasonable food and I can't remember the last time I couldn't get a seat.  I've only been to the 2 pubs at the end of Witton Lane so I can't comment on the others that a bit further afield but the one's I know are too busy for my liking.

Your own team was crap so you started supporting a Premier League team?

Er.....

Well basically yes, but there's also the fact that I have been living in Birmingham for the last 5 years and will be for the foreseeable future unless something drastic happens.

I thought I'd get some banter about it to be honest.

Welcome Deero - you will find some grumpy ones on here but don't worry about it. Everyone is a little uptight at the moment with the lack of activity at VP and the good and bad virtues of MoN. Expect a rollercoaster ride of emotions but that's half the fun. Whereabouts in Brum are you?

My first Villa game was v Port Vale in 1974 I think...

Isn't that bandit country? Few Bloonoses around that way I think. Reagrding pubs by the ground the King Edward is ok. Avoid the Adventurers unless your kitted out in Stone Island etc. Holte Pub or Holte Suite would probably be your best bet initially. Cheers.

Not from me you wont, there's nothing wrong with seeing the light. You could have quite easily supported City or United.

Welcome to H&V deero, it doesn't matter how you came to be a Villa fan, it just matters that you did.

Sounds good to me. I'll give the Holte Pub and/or Suite a try, thanks for the tip.

Going to the Valencia game on Friday, so starting to get excited about the forthcoming season! (Although I'm not sure about the lack of activity in the transfer market myself!)

Welcome.

Avoid The Barton's Arms. Right bunch of miserablists.

Having said that, it could end up with the results MON's late dealings had last season - we'd've been lost without Dunne, Collins and Warnock to say the least.

Yeah - we don't need more Norwich and Hereford supporters round here.

You might be better off drinking near the ground. If you don't want somewhere that does plastic glasses and is full of rowdy younger folks, then head to The Bartons Arms or The Ruskin Hall.

If you prefer it a bit rowdier then there are a number of places down near the ground.

I used to use the Ruskin, from memory it was £6.00 a year to Join tho would probably be a tenner now or £1.00 on the door. Plus they had their own secure parking and you are right next to the expressway.

The ground is a brsik ten min walk through Aston park
