New season ticket holder
« on: August 03, 2010, 11:12:15 AM »
Hi all

I am new to Heroes and Villains and am also signed up to sit in the Holte Upper K1 as my first ever season ticket!

As I'll be going to the games on my own, I just wondered:
- where people drink before the game
- what the deal is with the Holte Pub now that I have "priority access"
- what can I do with my Holte Suite priority access

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Welcome.

Avoid The Barton's Arms. Right bunch of miserablists.

As I'll be going to the games on my own, I just wondered:
- where people drink before the game
- All sorts of places, from city centre, to locals in and around Aston, to the Holte Pub and Suite you mentioned earlier.

- what the deal is with the Holte Pub now that I have "priority access"
- I believe it's first come first served and circa £4 with a programme?

- what can I do with my Holte Suite priority access
- essentially the same as The Holte Suite. Paying to get into one DOESN'T mean getting into the other from what I remember.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Oh.  I can stop waiting for my 'invitation' to come through the door then.

That's a shame, I was looking forward to being in the lottery to win my lunch!

£4 to get into a pub is a bit steep really. Is it any good?

Welcome deero83.

You sound very positive and that's quite refreshing.  If you want to stay that way, avoid posts that contain the following words....

Moscow
Plan 'B' (the lack off)
squad utilization
stubborn
O'Neill
hoof
recognised right back
not a right back
can't play right back
right back

I like it!

Yes, quite positive I suppose. I've never had a season ticket for a team before and considering I'm originally from Stoke and spent the first 20-odd years of my life following Port Vale, I decided to concentrate my attentions to the Villa a couple of years ago. I guess I still have the 'greenhorn' optimism that comes with the fact that I'll be watching a premiership game every fortnight as a minimum. I've been to a fair few games over the last couple of years so decided to take the plunge and sign up for the season ticket.

It's worth it just to walk out of the pub and be outside the ground.

Well that's what I thought. How long before kick-off do you have to get there to be able to get in?

The £4 does include a programme.

I would suggest getting there no later than an hour before kick-off to get in either place.

You might be better off drinking near the ground. If you don't want somewhere that does plastic glasses and is full of rowdy younger folks, then head to The Bartons Arms or The Ruskin Hall.

If you prefer it a bit rowdier then there are a number of places down near the ground.

I still follow them, but I just don't actively support them by going to games.
I was basically fed up with paying £19 per game to watch League Two football, which believe me, is very bad. Added to this was the humiliation that came with Stoke getting promoted into the Prem.....
