He was good against Bohemians.

As a short man myself, I really hope he makes it.

Is he really 5 '7? I thought he looked more like Alan Wright's height, 5 '4' wasn't it?

As a keen alan wright fan I agree with you he was a much maligned decent player. Many Villa fans thought otherwise and often expressed so when he played.
Bannan has plenty of attributes but like all our supposed 'star' potentials, needs to step up.
How they do so with such an intransigent and tactically limited manager is the real question.

Is this how it is going to be now? Every thread used as an excuse by the same small group of people to have a pop at the manager. It really is boring.

What do you mean 'now'?

No way is Bananaman 5ft 7.

I think 5ft 4 is more like it......

I know MON is concerned about his heightness, so he is fighting pretty much a losing battle at VP while he's manager.

The way it's going all the kids are in with a chance!

I think that's true for most clubs now, the new squad rules mean that they'll feature much more.

Not with our manager!

I didn't think Bannan had done that well at Blackburn had he?  He seemed to go from starting a few matches to coming on as a sub for the last few minutes of games.

He got in trouble for breaking a curfew and was dropped, it wasn't because of how he'd played.

http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=50775

Wikepedia say 5ft 7, other accounts say 5ft 5.

I'd say 5ft 4 / 5 myself.

He is a very talented player, he'd possbily be a star in other, more technically focussed countries which is a sad indicement on the English game I reckon.

I don't see his height being a problem if he's good enough.
The likes of Owen, Messi, and Arshavin will bare testiment to that

What's this mumbo-jumbo on the end of the story about?

"And the midfielder has been sporting a secret weapon in pre-season – a balance wristband which supposedly improves balance, strength and flexibility.

They contain a Mylar hologram designed to work with the body’s natural energy flow.

“It was Steve Sidwell who put me on to them, he wears one,” added Bannan.

As I said during the world cup, if he's going to make it he needs to watch videos of xavi and iniesta and see how they tackle and keep possession.  Neither of them are much bigger than him and have both made it at the very top (and are probably in the top5 players in the world).

If he can learn to use his low centre of gravity how they do he'll be a great player.  I always think the biggest indicator of talent in youngsters is their first touch and their attitude.  On both of those measures he's up with clark, albrighton and delfouneso and I think all 4 will make it in the prem.

I've a feeling that they may be illegal to wear. (As in players are not allowed to wear jewellry/wristbands or what have you). Maybe one of the referee posters on here can clarify?
