Friedel is class and always does the business in the big games.
Parish will be fine as 3rd or back up, not a position we have to worry too much about. L. Young would also make a fine right back, if we can persuade him to play.Davies is also a great back up Centre Back when in top form.We need a central midfielder and a forward/hole player to stay still. To move forward, obviously an additional quality player in D,M and A is required but we can't afford them.It bugs me.
I am a little concerned that Friedel is beginning to look his age.My concern is not helped by the fact that Guzan is not looking like the 'real deal' after some poor displays last season in the Cups. While I think Friedel has one season left in him I am not sure there are any more left in him at Prem level, so should MON be looking at a new keeper (as well as a top striker / right back / creative midfileder) ?I think he should be myself.
Yes Paul, but with respect the little games carry the same amount of points and those are the ones we repeatedly screw up. We also failed twice at Wembley last year and while no blame accrues to goalkeeping in either of those games they serve to highlight a year in year out lack of consistency. We have to have a team which will go out and grind the faces of the opposition regardless of their perceived status.
