I don't rate either of our keepers.   Friedel is too old and Guzan is only a shot stopper.  The keeper who head butted the referee in the Africa Cup of Nations (Algeria?) is my idea of a good investment.   Mike Riley getting twatted would at least be mildly amusing.   I was going to say Mike Halsey but I respect the moderators.

Friedel is class and always does the business in the big games.

Yes Paul, but with respect the little games carry the same amount of points and those are the ones we repeatedly screw up.   We also failed twice at Wembley last year and while no blame accrues to goalkeeping in either of those games they serve to highlight a year in year out lack of consistency.   We have to have a team which will go out and grind the faces of the opposition regardless of their perceived status.

I think the point is that he may only have a season left, he's 40 next year Paul, and Guzan isn't looking like the ready made replacement we all hoped he would be.

If we are to buy another keeper it will not be Myhill, Baggies have just signed him from Hull. I am happy with our two Brads. An experienced emergency third choice keeper would be good as cover.

Here's a slightly bizarre suggestion.  Hows about we send Guzan out on loan for a season and loan Hart from City.

I think Guzan needs games as his fear of crosses could be resolved simply by playing more matches.

If he fails then hopefully Hart will have developed some sort of affinity for the club having played at villa for a season.

I doubt Hart would come and be a reserve though...

Parish will be fine as 3rd or back up, not a position we have to worry too much about.

L. Young would also make a fine right back, if we can persuade him to play.

Davies is also a great back up Centre Back when in top form.

We need a central midfielder and a forward/hole player to stay still.

To move forward, obviously an additional quality player in D,M and A is required but we can't afford them.

It bugs me.

I have to completely disagree about Parrish. I saw him warming up before a few games last season and he didn't stop a shot!

I for one cannot understand why Luke Young isnt played by MON, other than the fact he seems to have upset him. I saw LY play in the last game of the season against Blackburn and he looked lively and keen to get the ball. When you plonk a guy on the bench all season, he's bound to have a mare against a team like Chelski.

Not sure about the top midfielder, I think it depends what happens with Milner. We certainly need a good striker.

I am a little concerned that Friedel is beginning to look his age.

My concern is not helped by the fact that Guzan is not looking like the 'real deal' after some poor displays last season in the Cups.

While I think Friedel has one season left in him I am not sure there are any more left in him at Prem level, so should MON be looking at a new keeper (as well as a top striker / right back / creative midfileder) ?

I think he should be myself.

I agree

Guzan is ok for back up but not first choice

I think Freidel doesn't comand his 6y yard box well enough, at home we conceeded loads of goals to balls whipped in across it.

MON will pronbably play him when he's on a zimmer

Another one to throw into the mix is Scott Loach at Watford - good young and English

MOTM against SHA at VP and also the first Villa keeper in god knows how long to keep a clean sheet at old trafford.
