Season Ticket Payments over 10 months ?
« on: July 14, 2010, 07:55:28 AM »
Simple question, I've been asked by the MD a finance company to see whether Villa fans would like the club to join their scheme wherby fans pay for their Season Ticket(s) over 10 months rather than the current 4 months etc. ?

It may be interest bearing ( may not be), but if so at 13.9% APR at today's rates.

If the concensus is for this, he will be able to 'sell' this to the club far easier - it's as simple as that !!

Thank you for your participation.

Spreading the payments would help a lot of people out, but there mat be some who if they feel they are not getting value for money that just stop their payments and default.

I would love to have a season ticket at VP. Unfortunately I cannot afford the 4 payments, nor the one off payment.

A monthly payment scheme would suit me down to the ground, and you'd definitely get me applying!

I don't get this, surely when i buy my season ticket i give Aston Villa credit as i pay up front for something i haven't received yet (i.e. matches), so if i pay month by month (unless i start to pay after the first month of matches have been completed) I am still giving credit to Aston Villa.
If a finance company wants to make this available over 10 months then i assume they are paying for the season ticket in full and then charging the individual a premium for the loan of the cash ? If thats the case then a zero interest credit card offer would be a better bet as that would give you 12 months to pay it off for no interest ?

Sorry i may have missed the point completely.

The only downside with this kind of arrangement is that, overall these deals tend to cost a hell of alot more when you add in the interest payments.  I had one once under BFR and decided that in future I would just put away £x per week/month.

That's exactly what I've done for years -in a cash ISA. OK you have to be disciplined, but once you get in the habit it works well.

Same here. Easy way of purchasing season ticket then repaying over the year interest free.

Same here. Absolutely no catch whatsoever.I've highlighted this card for the last two years, although a friend who I told about it, says they no longer do these interest free cards. (I realise not everybodys credit rating would allow them to get a card).

My credit rating is shit. I cannot get a new card but am fine with this one. I have a credit limit way in excess of my outstanding debt.

Just had a quick look on the Barclays site. No mention of the Barclays Premiership card amongst the various cards available.
I guess most Premier supporting fans that have one, don't use the cards for any other purchases, and Barclays therefore pulled the plug on it.
