You won't be able to watch SSN from later in the year.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/10346894.stm - link from BBC.

Not sure how I feel about this to be fair. It was useful for keeping up to date with games, but there was always the "have I really been watching this shite for three hours" factor.

I agree, I do find myself watching that channel far too often, especially when Millie Clode is presenting...

I wont miss the bullshit they make up at the end of the transfer window.

"Oooooh I've just had a text from a friend at Eastlands who said they've just seen Messi having a shit in Gary Cooks office, wank wank wank spurt!".

This has been mooted for some time.

Seems a daft idea by Sky. Sky Sports News is always 50% news 50% advertising forthcoming events on Sky Sports they will lose that opportunity to promote Sky sales by this move.

Don't worry. We can fill the void with Sky 3+1.

Terrific.

Bugger!  I paid £240 for a digital aerial last week mainly to get SSN on Freeview.

I did as well, with the idea of getting rid of Sky, might have to keep them now, can't do without Soccer Saturday.

Some people have trouble getting Sky location wise.  I live in a listed building so can't put a dish up and have no cable by me!

Yes, for the same reason that cdvillafan mentioned above.

Personally, I refuse point blank to pay for subscription TV - especially to Sky. In the same way that I no longer use Gillette or Sure products because of their sponsorship of Sky Sports programmes.

That said, I suppose it could be argued that the TV licence effectively makes BBC a subscription service.
